SEMINAR: Gauge-Higgs unfication after the discovery of the Higgs particle

March 13 2015, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Chong-Sa Lim (Tokyo Woman's Christian Univ.)

Abstract : The Higgs has turned out to be ''light", whose mass being of the order of the weak scale. This suggests that the Higgs self-coupling is governed by gauge principle.

SEMINAR: Hamiltonian Truncation methods: solving strongly-coupled QFTs numerically

March 6 2015, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Lorenzo Vitale (EPFL Lausanne)

Abstract : In this talk I will present the Hamiltonian Truncation method, one of the simplest realizations of the ''exact diagonalization'' techniques used to solve strongly-coupled QFTs numerically, as opposed to standard lattice Monte Carlo methods.

COLLOQUIUM: One, No One and One Hundred Thousand or Indirect Dark Matter detection as a guide to the path Beyond the Standard Model

March 9 2015, 12:00PM - Seminar room

Speaker: Pasquale Serpico (Annecy, LAPTH)

Abstract: Despite its remarkable success, the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics does not address key facts revealed by cosmological and astrophysical observations. Until now, no signs of new physics have been discovered in laboratory experiments, leaving unclear what is the path chosen by Nature for the physics beyond the SM (BSM).

SEMINAR: Three tales for three scalars

February 27 2015, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Giovanni Villadoro (ICTP Trieste)

THESIS DEFENSE: Search for new phenomena in jets plus missing transverse energy final states at the LHC

February 23 2015, 11:20am -  Seminar room

Thesis Defender: Roger Caminal

SEMINAR: Heavy quark masses from QCD sum rules

February 20 2015,12:00pm -  Seminar room

Speaker: Pere Masjuan (Mainz U)

Abstract :  The precise knowledge of the heavy quark masses plays an important role in many phenomenological applicants, from Higgs physics to B-meson and charmonium decays. On top, quark masses are fundamental parameters of the Standard Model Lagrangian.

SEMINAR: Signals of natural SUSY

February 13 2015, 2:30pm -  Seminar room

Speaker: Antonio Delgado (Notre Damme U)

Abstract :  In this talk I will present a couple of scenarios of natural SUSY paying special attention to their LHC signatures. The first one is a top-down model for heavy stops and the second one is a phenomenological model for light neutralinos.
