Particle Physics with Neutrino Telescopes

Friday March 19th, 12:00h, IFAE seminar room

Speaker: Carlos de los Heros (Uppsala University)

Second-generation neutrino telescopes are being built to explore the high energy neutrino sky, searching for cosmological point sources of neutrinos.

The Status of Flavour Physics in the LHC Era by Clara Matteuzzi

Clara Matteuzzi, Univ. Milano-Bicocca
Monday, March 1st, 12:00 - IFAE Seminar Room

Flavour physics is a very interesting sector for present and future dedicated experiments and machines. Some physics aspects of CP violation are still left open by the excellent measurements at B-factories and Tevatron. Very rare decays, forbidden in the Standard Model, for which the required statistics can only be obtained at hadron colliders or super-B

JANUARY 2010 - European research council award

The European Research Council awarded an Advanced Grant to the project "Voxel Imaging PET Pathfinder" presented in 2009 by IFAE Research Professor Mokhtar Chmeissani.

JANUARY 2010 - Multidark Postdoctoral Research Positions

The very high energy gamma-ray astronomy group at IFAE, which is part of the MAGIC and CTA collaborations, is involved in the MULTIDARK project. A call for postdoctoral positions in the different groups of MULTIDARK is currently open, see details below.

January 2010 - Two year post doc position for the MAGIC upgrade in the field of ground-based GeV-TeV Cherenkov Astrophysics.

The successful candidate will work in the Pisa/INFN MAGIC group (http://www.pi.infn.it magic/) for the first year and play a major role in the prototyping and commissioning of the novel readout system of the two MAGIC telescopes based on the domino ring sampler 4.
