SEMINAR: Minimal Dark Matter and future colliders

October 27 2014, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker:Filippo Sala (IPhT, Saclay)

Abstract : Electroweak multiplets constitute prototype candidates of WIMP Dark Matter, providing a useful benchmark to compare collider searches with direct and indirect ones.

SEMINAR: EFT approach to Flavour and Dark Matter

October 21 2014, 2.30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Andreas Crivellin (U Bern)

Abstract : In this talk I review the effective field theory approach to physics beyond the SM.

SEMINAR: Inflation from broken scale invariance

October 17 2014, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Csaba Csaki (Cornell U)

Abstract : I present a model of inflation based on a low-energy effective theory of spontaneously broken global scale invariance. This provides a shift symmetry that protects the inflaton potential from quantum corrections.

SEMINAR:Emerging Jets From a Dark Sector

October 10 2014, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Pedro Schwaller (CERN)

Abstract : I will discuss a few reasons to go beyond minimal dark matter models, and some theoretical ideas that motivate us to consider a QCD-like dark sector.

SEMINAR: Generating X-ray lines from annihilating dark matter

September 26 2014, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Lucien Heurtier (CPHT Ecole Polytechnique Paris)

Abstract : After the possible discovery of a monochromatic gamma-ray line around 3.55 keV, a myriad of models where proposed to interpret it as a decaying dark matter candidate.

SEMINAR: QCD axion with high scale inflation

September 19 2014, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Kiwoon Choi (director of IBS Center for Theoretical Physics of the Universe, Daejeon)

Abstract :We discuss the cosmological constraints on QCD axion, while focusing on high scale inflation scenario motivated by the recent detection of the CMB B-mode by BICEP2.

SEMINAR: A new experiment to search for axion dark matter

September 19 2014, 11:45am -  Seminar room

Speaker: Javier Redondo (Max Planck Inst, Munich)

Abstract :After an introduction on the status of axion dark matter, I will discuss a new  experimental proposal for the detection based on a dish antenna.

SEMINAR: Higgs mediated lepton flavour violation

September 5 2014, 2:00pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Alejandro Celis (IFIC,Valencia)

Abstract :The non-observation of flavour violating transitions among charged leptons is understood within the Standard Model (SM) as a mere accident.

SEMINAR: The Slow Gravitino

June 27 2014, 2:00pm

Speaker: Karim Benakli (LPTHE, Paris)

Abstract : I will first briefly remind some basic aspects of the Rarita-Schwinger Lagrangian. This describes spin-3/2 particles as the gravitino, the partner of the graviton under supersymmetry transformations. Then I will discuss why we are lead to consider violation of Lorentz symmetry and how it is included in a modified Lagrangian.

SEMINAR: A Long-Baseline Neutrino, Proton Decay and Supernova Facility Hosted in the US

June 26 2014, 12:00hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Robert J. Wilson  (LBNE Collaboration Co-Spokesperson Colorado State University)

Abstract:

In early 2013 the US Department of Energy (DOE) gave approval for the first phase of the Long-Baseline Neutrino Experiment (LBNE) to conduct a broad scientific program including neutrino oscillations, neutrino scattering physics, search for baryon violation, supernova burst neutrinos and other interesting astrophysical
phenomena.
