Asymmetric Dark Matter via Leptogenesis

Abstract:

I will motivate and introduce the idea of asymmetric dark matter. This is an alternative to the better-known WIMP or axion dark matter candidates in which dark matter behaves in a more similar way to baryonic matter.

In particular, its abundance is also determined by a particle- antiparticle asymmetry generated typically by the same mechanism that explains the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe. Asymmetric dark matter models typically predict light dark matter masses ~5 GeV in the region favoured by DAMA, CoGeNT and CRESST. I will briefly review several realizations of asymmetric dark matter and focus on its generation via the Leptogenesis mechanism.
