Abstract : I will first briefly remind some basic aspects of the Rarita-Schwinger Lagrangian. This describes spin-3/2 particles as the gravitino, the partner of the graviton under supersymmetry transformations. Then I will discuss why we are lead to consider violation of Lorentz symmetry and how it is included in a modified Lagrangian.

Effective field theory approach to top-quark physics at NLO accuracy

Abstract: Top quark processes potentially suffer from a large uncertainty at leading order in QCD. To search for new physics in top quark processes, it is desirable to have a model-independent approach at the NLO accuracy.

SEMINAR: The Dilaton and its many Faces

Abstract: Even if theoretically discovered long ago, the dilaton, the pseudo-Goldstone boson of spontaneous breaking of scale invariance, is still subject of active investigations. These not only concern theoretical developments, such as new realizations based on the AdS/CFT correspondence, but also phenomenological applications. In this talk I will first review the effective theory for the spontaneous breaking of scaling symmetry, next I will present a warped extra-dimensional model with all the expected features, and finally I will discuss two of the potential manifestations of the dilaton in Nature: in cosmological phase transitions and in the context of a inflationary universe.

SEMINAR: High scale mixing unification with Dirac neutrinos

Abstract:We investigate 'High Scale mixing unification' hypothesis in the context of Dirac neutrinos. This hypothesis assumes the unification of the mixing angles and phases of the CKM and PMNS matrices at some high scale. This could be a possible signature of the quark-lepton unification. After taking quarks mixing angles and Dirac phase equal to that of PMNS matrix, we run down renormalization-group equations of the neutrinos to the low scale. We observe that all the low-energy oscillation parameters are recovered.

Abstract: For models with extended Higgs sectors, minimizing the one-loop effective potential and calculating tunneling times between physical and non- physical minima can provide a competitive phenomenological constraint. In this talk we will discuss the method for finding all the minima of the potential and tunneling times implemented in the software package Vevacious. As an example we will take a look at charge- and color- breaking minima in the MSSM both at zero and non-zero temperature. We will see that when requiring compatibility with other phenomenological constraints, vacuum stability presents an even more challenging scenario for this model.

Abstract: I will discuss a model-independent strategy to study narrow resonances applied to a heavy vector triplet of the Standard Model group for illustration. The method is based on a simplified phenomenological Lagrangian which reproduces a large class of explicit models.

Abstract: While the predictions of the SM Lagrangian have by now all been tested, the experimental verification of the predictions of its dimension 6 extension are only begining, with the arrival of Higgs data. We first identify the BSM primary effects, the set of physical quantities, that give us the best way to constrain new physics.
