Avui, la col·laboració internacional T2K ha anunciat a la conferència biennal de la Societat Europea de Física, celebrada a Estocolm, haver observat inequívocament un nou fenomen físic: la transformació de neutrins de tipus muó a neutrins de tipus electró.

Given the large energy gap between the electroweak scale and the scale of new physics (expected at a few TeV), EFTs turn out to be an extremely useful tool to perform fully systematic searches for new physics at present-day colliders.

I will discuss the phenomenon of emergent Lorentz invariance in strongly coupled theories. Lorentz Invariance is imprinted by the renormalization group flow in most observables, such as the dispersion relations of composite particles at low energies.

Seminar: A possible new phase in gauge-fixed Yang-Mills theory

Abstract:
The standard expectation is that gauge fixing cannot alter the physics in the physical sector of a Yang-Mills theory. In this talk, I argue that this may not be true: in an SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in which the SU(2)/U(1) coset is gauge fixed, we find that a new phase, with spontaneous symmetry breaking, appears to be a possibility.
