Medical imaging research at IFAE since 1998: accomplishments and outlook

Mokhtar Chmeissani, IFAE

Monday, February 15th, 12:00 - IFAE Seminar Room

1998 marks the start of the applied research line in IFAE with the intention to work on dosimetry detectors. Soon after the research got focused on digital imaging for medical applications such as Mammography, Bone radiology, Biopsy, and later on Nuclear medicine (Positron-Emission-Tomography,PET). IFAE
applied research line is a clear and vivid example of know-how translation from instrumentations used in fundamental physics research to applied physics. The talk will details the merits of the devices that have been developed in comparison to what exist in the market, with an outlook toward the new research on novel PET detector.
