Relations between anomalous and even-parity sectors in AdS/QCD

Friday May 4, 14:30 - Seminar room

Speaker: Juan Jose Sanz Cillero (Universita' di Bari)

In arXiv:1010.0718 [hep-ph] Son and Yamamoto found an interesting relation between the odd and even-intrinsic parity sectors of QCD for the class of holographic models where chiral symmetry is broken though IR boundary conditions.

Predicting the Higgs mass from Inflation models

Friday April 20, 14:30hs  -  Seminar room

Speaker: Alessio Notari (Universitat de Barcelona)

For a narrow band of values of the top quark and Higgs boson masses, the Standard Model Higgs potential can develop a false minimum at energies of about 10^15-10^16 GeV, where primordial Inflation could have happened.

Self-healing of unitarity violations

Wednesday April 25, 14:00 hs. - Coffee room

Speaker : Matthias Jamin (IFAE)

COLLOQUIUM - Quantum states of matter and anti-matter in gravitational and centrifugal potentials

Monday April  16th 2012, 12 pm - Seminar room

Speaker:  V.V. Nesvizhevsky (Institut Laue-Langevin, Grenoble, France)

Three-magnetic fields

Friday April 13, 14:30 hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Federico Urban (University of British Columbia, Canada)

I will discuss a qualitatively new possibility for the generation of cosmic magnetic fields in the context of inflation.

Minimal Flavor Violation without R-parity

Friday March 30 , 14:30 hs - Seminar Room.

Speaker: Marco Nardecchia (DIAS, Denmark)

We study the extension of the Minimal Flavour Violation (MFV) hypothesis to the MSSM without R-parity. The novelty of our approach lies in the observation that supersymmetry enhances the global symmetry of the kinetic term and in the fact that we consider as irreducible sources of the flavour symmetry breaking all the couplings of the superpotential including the R-parity violating ones. If R-parity violation is responsible for neutrino masses, our setup can be seen as an extension of MFV to the lepton sector.

Higgs searches with the CMS detector at LHC

Friday March 30 , 12:00 hs -  Seminar Room.

Speaker: Prof. Guenakh Mitselmakher (University of Florida)

The results of the Higgs searches with the CMS detector at LHC are presented. Higgs-->4l searches in the low mass region are discussed in more details.

Chiral effective theory with a light scalar and lattice QCD

Friday March 23, 14:30hs -  Seminar room

Speaker: Pedro Talavera (Universitat de Barcelona)

We extend the usual chiral perturbation theory framework to allow the inclusion of a light dynamical isosinglet scalar.

SUSY searches at LHC, presented at Moriond EW 2012

Wednesday March 21, 14:00hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Ernesto Arganda

(Coffee will be served 10min before in the TH common room)

Interpreting Higgs results

Friday, March 16, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Adam Falkowski (Orsay)

I will present an analysis of the 2011 LHC Higgs data in the context of an effective low-energy theory of the Higgs boson. The focus will be on searches in the Higgs to 4 leptons and Higgs to diphoton channels.
