Testing the seesaw mechanism at the LHC

Wednesday February 22nd,  14:00hs - Coffee room

The Galileion

Monday February 20. 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Enrico Trincherini (SNS, Pisa)

Abstract:

I will first review the recently proposed theory of a scalar field invariant under an internal "galilean" symmetry, under which the field's gradient shifts by a constant.

Consistent MUED for the LHC

Friday January 27, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Jesus Moreno (IFT, Madrid)

Abstract:

We revisit the Minimal Universal Extra Dimensions (MUED) model by implementing consistently both electroweak symmetry breaking and loop-corrections in five dimensions.

Natural SUSY endures

Tuesday January 17, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Michele Papucci (LBL Berkeley)

Abstract:

The first 1/fb of LHC data set impressive limits on new colored particles decaying to missing energy. I will present the implication of these searches for naturalness in supersymmetry (SUSY).

First results from the Double Chooz experiment

Monday December 19, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Pau Novella (CIEMAT) that has been very active in the analysis of the data.

Abstract :

The Double Chooz experiment started the data taking on April 2011, operating the far detector placed 1.05 km away from the nuclear cores of the power plant of Chooz (France).

On the factorization of the scattering of W bosons

Monday December 19, 11:45hs -  Seminar room

Speaker: Roberto Franceschini (University of Maryland)

Abstract:

In this seminar I shall briefly review why the cross-section of high energy scattering processes can effectively be factorized into a hard scattering and soft emissions.

The discrete composite Higgs

Friday December 16th, 14:30 -  Seminar room

Speaker : Giuliano Panico (ETH, Zurich)

Abstract:

We construct a simplified 4-dimensional version of the composite Higgs scenario obtained by dimensional deconstruction.

Gravitational Anomaly and Transport

Wednesday December 14th,  14:00hs -  Coffee room

Speaker:  Eugenio Megias

Making the sneutrino a Higgs with a U(1)R lepton number

Friday December 2nd, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Claudia Frugiuele (Carleton University, Canada)

Abstract:

I will talk about a new R symmetric SUSY model where the R symmetry is identified with the lepton number, and as consequence the sneutrino plays the role of the down type Higgs.

Simultaneous measurement of the ttbar pair production cross section and the Rb parameter in the ATLAS experiment

Wednesday Novmeber 30th, 14:00hs  - Coffee room

Speaker :  Jordi Nadal (IFAE)

Through these seminars we are trying to bring both theoretical and experimental groups closer, so we encourage people of both communities to participate in the meetings.
