New hadronic currents in Monte Carlo Generators

Thursday October 6th, 14:00 - Coffee room

Speaker:   Pablo Roig (IFAE)

Extraordinary phenomenology from warped flavor triviality

Wednesday October 5th, 15:00hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Cedric Delaunay (CERN)

We present a class of warped models, dubbed Flavor Triviality (FT), where the SM flavor hierarchies are determined by UV physics. These models allow for a KK-gluon mass as low as O(2)TeV which is consistent with EWPTs.

ATLAS Selected Results

Friday September 23rd, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Mario Martinez (IFAE)

Abstract: An overview is given of some of the most interesting results presented at the summer conferences by the ATLAS Experiment, using proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV and based on the 2010 and 2011 datasets. Special emphasis is put on the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model and the Higgs boson.

Review of the situation with neutrino mass models and prospects – emphasis on S(3) symmetry

Monday, September 19th at 12:00 - Seminar room

Speaker: Prof.H.Sugawara (the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and former director of KEK)

Reconciling thermal leptogenesis and gravitino by the strong CP problem and its observation

Friday September 16th, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker:  Jasper Hasenkamp (University of Hamburg)

A consistent cosmology has to explain the observed matter composition of the Universe and should enable solutions to all problems of the Standard Model.

Neutrino masses from Kahler operators and broken SUSY

Friday July 8, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Filipe R. Joaquim  (CFTP, Lisbon)

I will present a SUSY scenario in which neutrino masses are generated by effective d=6 operators in the Kahler potential, rather than by the standard d=5 superpotential operator.

LHC tests of the Tevatron t tbar asymmetry

Wednesday July 6, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: J.A. Aguilar-Saavedra  (Universidad de Granada)

The forward-backward asymmetry measured by CDF may be a hint of physics beyond the Standard Model. Models accommodating this asymmetry will undergo stringent tests from t tbar production at LHC, especially the measurement of the high-mass tail and the charge asymmetry.

The Higgs: status and perspectives

Friday July 1st, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Abdelhak Djouadi (Universite de Paris Sud, Orsay)

I will summarize the status of the Higgs boson in the Standard Model and its supersymmetric extension with a focus on Higgs production at hadron colliders and the associated theoretical uncertainties.

The Little-Parks Effect and Quantum Hair on Holographic Superconductors

Wednesday June 22, 14:00hs - Coffee room

Speaker:  Marc Montull

Non-Abelian Semi-Local Vortices, from (S)QCD to Condensed Matter

Friday June 17, 14:30hs - Seminar room

Speaker: Walter Vinci (University of Minnesota)

I will present some of my contributions to the study of BPS string-like solutions in supersymmetric gauge theories with extended supersymmetry. In particular, I will review the concepts of non- Abelian and semi-local vortices.
