SEMINAR: Schwinger effect in de Sitter space

Friday January 17 2014, 2:00pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Jaume Garriga (Universitat de Barcelona)

Abstract : I will discuss the Schwinger process in 1+1 dimensional de Sitter space, and will derive a formula for the conductivity of vacuum.

SEMINAR: Searching for light dark matter with NOVA

Friday January 10 2014, 12:00pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Claudia Frugiuele (Fermilab)

Abstract : I will discuss the discovery prospect of light dark matter with the NOVA near detector at Fermilab.

SEMINAR: Cosmic Axion Spin Precession Experiment

Wednesday January 8 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Surjeet Rajendran (Stanford University)

Abstract : We propose an experiment to search for QCD axion and axion-like-particle (ALP) dark matter. Nuclei that are interacting with the background axion dark matter acquire time-varying CP-odd nuclear moments such as an electric dipole moment.

SEMINAR: Review on the muon (g-2) contributions

Friday December 20 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Pere Masjuan (Mainz Univ.)

Abstract : We give an overview of the different contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment in the Standard Model. Special emphasis is given to the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon anomaly.

SEMINAR: The elusive gluon at the LHC

Tuesday December 10th 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: José Santiago (U. Granada & CAFPE)

Abstract : New color octet vector bosons, heavy gluons, are a common prediction of models of strong electroweak symmetry breaking.

SEMINAR: Composite Weak Bosons and the New Boson at the LHC

Tuesday December 3 2013, 2:00pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Harald Fritzsch (LMU, Munich)

Abstract:
The weak bosons are considered as composite particles. The masses of the weak bosons are given by the field energy of the constituents.

SEMINAR: Exploring the Hidden Sector @ Low Energies

Friday November 22 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Joerg Jaeckel  (U Heidelberg)

Abstract:
Over the years we have accumulated a large number of indications for physics beyond the standard model. This new physics is often sought-after at high masses and energies.

SEMINAR: Four basic ways of creating dark matter through a portal

Tuesday November 13 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Thomas Hambye (U Libre de Bruxelles)

Abstract:
We consider the possibility that along the thermal history of the Universe, dark matter (DM) would have been created through a portal interaction between the visible sector (where the SM particles lie) and a hidden sector (where the DM particles lie).

SEMINAR: Higgs naturalness and scale invariance

Friday November 15 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Witold Skiba (Yale U & CERN)

Abstract:
I will discuss the issue of fine tuning of the Higgs mass in theories with scale invariance at high energy scales.

SEMINAR: Flavorful Naturalness

Friday October 25 2013, 2:30pm - Seminar room

Speaker: Gilad Perez (CERN)

Abstract:
The notion of top partner as the object that cancel the top quadratic divergence of the Higgs mass square is discussed.
