A split SM embedding in SO(10), minimal type-II seesaw, and tree-level gauge mediation

Abstract:

I will discuss the consequences of a non-standard embedding of the SM fermions in a supersymmetric SO(10) theory, in which the SM fermions are embedded in two different SO(10) representations.

I will show that this possibility i) can naturally arise as a consequence of SO(10) breaking, ii) it allows a particularly simple, predictive, perturbative implementation of type-II seesaw, which turns out to lead to successful leptogenesis and definite predictions for lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes, and iii) it gives rise to the minimal implementation of tree-level gauge mediation of supersymmetry breaking in the context of grand unification theories. Which shares with ``loop'' gauge mediation its major success, the solution of the supersymmetric flavour problem, determines all sfermion masses in terms of a single parameter, and leads to the peculiar tree level relation between sfermion masses, testable at the LHC.
