Dark radiation and sterile neutrinos

Recent cosmological data hint at the possible presence of an excess energy density in relativistic particles, dubbed "dark radiation".

After reviewing the impact of dark radiation on cosmological observables, I will present the current observational status and give an outlook on upcoming observations. Finally, I will indulge in some speculation on the identity of the dark radiation and discuss whether it could be composed of light sterile neutrinos, which have been suggested as a resolution to the LSND/MiniBoone/reactor anomalies.
