Abstract:
The properties of quark matter at high density and strong coupling remain largely intractable. The large-N limit and its connection to a holographic string theory dual, may provide a tractable limit of the correponding physics.

We point out certain generic features of the thermodynamics of large-N gauge theories with quark-like matter and their strong coupling constructs using holography or gauge/string duality.
