JANUARY 2011 - New PhD student position for CTA-MAGIC at IFAE

The CTA-MAGIC group at IFAE is opening a PhD student position. The deadline for sending applications is 31st January 2011. The successful candidate will be selected not later than few weeks after the deadline. The starting date can be negotiated but should not be later than April 1st 2011.

The chosen candidate shall work on CTA and MAGIC. Concerning the former project, the work will be hardware-related: IFAE is mainly involved in the construction of a Raman LIDAR of 1.8m diameter for atmospheric monitoring, in the development of the trigger for the CTA cameras and in the prototyping for the Large Size Telescopes of CTA.The candidate will work on one of these items. In parallel, the candidate will be also working in the MAGIC data analysis and a physics topic of interest. The IFAE group is involved in all relevant scientific topics of MAGIC and the possible preferences of the student will be taken into account.


A degree in Physics is required. Having completed also a master degree would be an asset, but otherwise IFAE has its own master program
