JUNE 2012 -  PhD Opportunities in Particle Physics with the ATLAS Experiment at the LHC at CERN

The IFAE group in ATLAS invites student applications for PhD positions in Experimental High Energy Physics to work in the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

This includes a PhD grant and a scholarship to cover the cost of the Master program if necessary. Undertaking a PhD in Particle Physics offers the chance to explore fundamental questions in Nature and to use some of the world's most technologically advanced experimental and computing facilities. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to work in a highly international environment at CERN (Switzerland) in collaboration with scientists from the best Universities and Research Centers around the world. The IFAE group in ATLAS has major responsibilities on the calibration and maintenance of the calorimeter and the trigger system, and is deeply involved in detector upgrade activities related to silicon devices and pixel technologies. IFAE plays a leading role in several physics research lines including the search for the Higgs boson, Super-symmetry, Extra Spatial Dimensions, Dark Matter, and new phenomena in Top-quark final states Applicants should have a Degree in Physics and provide a CV including full list of University Grades not later than 15th July 2012. However, applications will be accepted until the openings are filled.
