Open Positions
FEBRUARY 2010 - 3 year Postdoctoral Position at IFAE for the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) Design StudyA postdoctoral contract for 3 years is available at the gamma-ray astronomy group of the Instituto de Física de Altas Energías (IFAE) in Barcelona (www.ifae.es). IFAE is involved in the design study of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA), a next generation ground-based gamma-ray observatory |
JANUARY 2010 - 2 year Postdoctoral Position to work on CTA at IEEC-CSIC, Barcelona (within the CTA Spanish Consortium)Within the CTA Design Study, as is the case for any large-sized telescope which features represent a large improvement -order of magnitude- in comparison with its predecessors, one of the most important activities is the in-depth analysis of the possible scientific output and its feasibility. |
JANUARY 2010 - Multidark Postdoctoral Research PositionsThe very high energy gamma-ray astronomy group at IFAE, which is part of the MAGIC and CTA collaborations, is involved in the MULTIDARK project. A call for postdoctoral positions in the different groups of MULTIDARK is currently open, see details below. |
January 2010 - Two year post doc position for the MAGIC upgrade in the field of ground-based GeV-TeV Cherenkov Astrophysics. The successful candidate will work in the Pisa/INFN MAGIC group (http://www.pi.infn.it magic/) for the first year and play a major role in the prototyping and commissioning of the novel readout system of the two MAGIC telescopes based on the domino ring sampler 4. In the second year, the successful candidate is expected to work on the installation and |
The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona (IFAE) offers research positions for graduate students to carry out their PhD thesis in the field of neutrino physics.IFAE actively contributes to T2K, the new neutrino oscillation experiment being constructed in Japan. The experiment sends a neutrino beam from the east cost of Japan to the west cost where it is detected with the SuperKamiokande experiment. The experiment is in its last phase of construction and it has seen its first neutrino interactions at the end of 2009. |
