Open Position LST camera integration and test at lab

Research project:

The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is the next generation ground-based observatory for gamma-ray astronomy at very-high energies (from 20 GeV to > 100 TeV). With over 100 telescopes located in two sites in the northern and southern hemispheres, CTA will be the world’s largest and most sensitive high-energy gamma-ray observatory ever built. Spain will host the CTA-North observatory at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (ORM), in the Canary island of La Palma.

The gamma-ray astrophysics group at IFAE is playing a leading role in the ongoing construction of the first of the four large-size telescopes of CTA-North, dubbed LST-1, equipped with a 23-m diameter dish,that is in its construction phase, and will start operations at the ORM during 2018. In particular, IFAE is in charge of the integration and validation of the camera before its installation in the telescope.

Contract description:

The contracting entity will be the Institut de Physique d’Altes Energies (IFAE), located on the Campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Bellaterra. The financing project will be FPA2015-69210-C6-1-R of the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad. The starting date is the 1st of December and the duration will be one month with the salary corresponding to 30 000 gross Euros.
