Open Position Science Communication Officer at IFAE

Who we are

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main goal is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to UAB and its premises are within the campus of the university. The IFAE the Communications and Outreach Unit helps to give visibility to the research activities carried out by the centre, both nationally and internationally.

What we are looking for

The applicant’s requirements are:

• Hold a degree in Science, preferably in Physics, or Communication.
• Have experience in web content management systems and social media.
• Be fluent in English, Catalan and Spanish.
• Be passionate about the communication of science and technology.
• Have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Have an eye for detail, responsibility, and an eager-to-learn attitude.
• Show demonstrated ability to perform tasks both independently and as part of a team.
• Be willing to meet deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction.

What will be your role?

The main responsibilities of this person will be related to the management of the communication aspects of the European project: Einstein Telescope Preparatory Phase. These activities will include: internal and external communications, outreach activities and STEM education programme.
This person will be instrumental in helping the IFAE Communications Unit to give visibility to the research activities by performing tasks such as: website content management, social media management and management of outreach and education events.

Offered contract:

A Full-time (40h/week) position. The duration of the contract is limited to approximately 3 years contract, linked to the duration of the project Einstein Telescope Preparatory Phase. The salary will be in accordance with the qualifications of the candidate. The starting date will be as soon as possible.
