Open Position “La Caixa Junior Leader” Postdoctoral Position in the Theory Group at IFAE (Barcelona)

The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona (IFAE) announces the opening of a Postdoctoral Position to participate in the Theory Group. IFAE is one of the top research centers in Spain conducting experimental and theoretical research at the frontier of fundamental physics, as well as developing cutting-edge detector technology. In 2012 and 2016, IFAE was awarded the distinction of “Severo Ochoa” Centre of Excellence by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The Theory Group physics program at IFAE covers three different lines of research: Standard Model Physics and Flavour Physics (in and beyond the Standard Model), Beyond the Standard Model Physics, and Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology. The successful candidate will join a competitive team of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and staff scientists from IFAE and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). These positions are funded by the “La Caixa” Foundation under the “La Caixa” Junior Leader Retaining postdoctoral fellowships program, aimed at hiring up to 15 excellent researchers —of any nationality— to carry out research at any university or research centre in Spain (and Portugal). By means of a complementary training program, these fellowships are intended to consolidate research skills and to foster an independent scientific career as an option for the future.

Interested candidates with an excellent CV, and satisfying the eligibility criteria :

• to have earned their doctoral degree two to seven years prior to the closing date of the call (between 5th October 2016 and 5th October 2021, both inclusive),
• to have resided or have carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to the closing date of the call,
• to have carried out research stays at non-Spanish research centers or universities during their doctorate or postdoctorate, whether in a continuous or a discontinuous way for at least six months prior to the deadline for applications, are encouraged to apply online here .
