The High Energy Physics Institute in Barcelona (IFAE) announces the opening of up to three 3-year Postdoctoral Positions in the Observational Cosmology group. IFAE is a worldwide-recognized center for fundamental research in Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology, and provides an international, dynamic, and competitive environment for training of young researchers.

The IFAE Cosmology group is presently formed by 5 faculty, 4 post-docs and 7 PhD students and is a full member of the Dark Energy Survey (DES), the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), the Euclid Consortium and the Dark Energy Science Collaboration (DESC) of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) at the Rubin Observatory. The group plays leading roles in the analysis of DES and DESI, and is preparing for the data exploitation of the Euclid and LSST-DESC surveys.

One of the positions is in the ERC-funded COSMO-LYA research group, led by Andreu Font-Ribera. COSMO-LYA is using innovative techniques and new data from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) to address some of the open questions in fundamental physics. The other positions are expected to share their efforts between data analysis of Euclid, and preparation for the analysis of LSST-DESC. Expertise in data analysis of cosmological surveys will be particularly valued. The starting date is flexible, but ideally it would be during the second half of 2024.

Interested candidates must have a PhD in Physics or Astronomy on the date of the contract start. They should provide a CV, letter of interest (or research statement) and arrange for at least two letters of reference to be sent to cosmo-openings@ifae.es .

Sending CVs to the above address implies consent to the legal warning at the bottom of IFAE’s Home Page (http://www.ifae.es ). IFAE is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace and social integration of people with a disability. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates. People from groups that are typically underrepresented in the labour market in general, and in Science and Engineering in particular, such as women, minorities, or people with a disability, are particularly encouraged to apply. The application deadline is November 30th, 2023.
