About IFAE

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.

About Theory Group

The Theory Group at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), at the UAB Campus (Barcelona), is a vibrant international group working on Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics and Cosmology. Current members include D. Blas, E. Masso, C. Murgui, A. Pomarol, O. Pujolas, M. Quiros, F Rompineve and A. Wulzer. The group has an extended research record on BSM physics, collider physics, early universe cosmology, dark matter, gravitation, topological defects, axion physics, from both the phenomenological and theoretical sides.

What will be your role?

The successful candidate will perform research on cutting-edge topics in cosmology and particle physics.

Required skills

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

• A Master’s degree in physics
• Fluent English written and oral skills
• Experience on holographic methods for particle physics
• Familiarity with software tools for symbolic and numerical calculations

Evaluation criteria:

Applications of candidates fulfilling the required skills will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

• Previous experience: 60 points.
• Scientific excellence based on the CV: 40 points.

Offered contract:

• Part time contract (12 hours/week), from Monday to Friday.
• Contract for scientific-technical activities (art. 23 bis, Llei 14/2011.d’1 de juny, de la Ciència, la Tecnologia i la Innovació).
• Contract. The contract will have a duration approximately of one year.
• IFAE Professional category: “Tècnic (a)”
• Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range
• The selected candidate is expected to join IFAE as soon as possible.

A Selection Committee will evaluate the received applications. If more than one candidate seems equally suitable for the position, the Selection Committee will arrange an on-line interview with each one of them as part of the Selection process.

According to the laws affecting the public sector, priority will be given to candidates fulfilling the required skills with a current labour relationship with any of the Administrations of the consortium (Generalitat de Catalunya and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
