About IFAE
The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.
About Theory Group
The Standard Model (SM) Theory Group at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), at the UAB Campus (Barcelona), is a well-known international group working on Standard Model Physics and Flavor Physics (in and beyond the Standard Model). Current members include R. Escribano, P. Masjuan, J. Matias, A. Pineda and S. Peris. The group has an extended research record on the application of Effective Field Theories (EFTs) to different systems, on the use of Flavor Physics as an effective tool for discovery by means of B-meson decays, on improved determinations of the hadronic contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment to pave the way for clean physics beyond the SM analyses, and on the use of meson physics as a laboratory for testing QCD at low energies and searching for new physics (check https://www.ifae.es/groups/theory for more information about the group).
What we are looking for
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Particle Physics starting in November 2024. Candidates should have a PhD degree in Physics (by October 2024).
What will be your role
The postdoctoral research topic will be along two of our strategic research lines: meson physics as a laboratory for testing QCD at low energies and searching for new physics, and improved determinations of the hadronic contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. They are part of the action line 1 (Meson physics in QCD at low energies) and action line 2 (Hadronic contributions to the muon anomalous magnetic moment) of the project Effective Field Theories: QCD, Flavor Physics, and Beyond (StrongFlavorEFT).

- The position will correspond to a Junior Postdoctoral Fellow.
