About IFAE
The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.
About Theoretical Physics Group
The “Institut de Física d’Altes Energies” (IFAE) in Barcelona welcomes expressions of interest for PhD positions on Theoretical Physics, along the strategic lines of the members of the Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) and Cosmology groups. The latter include physics beyond the Standard Model of elementary particles, formal aspects of quantum field theories, gravitation, gravitational waves, quantum detectors for dark matter searches, cosmology and astroparticle physics. The Theory Group is a vibrant international group, whose senior members working on BSM and Cosmology include D. Blas, E. Masso, C. Murgui, A Pomarol, O. Pujolas, M. Quiros, F. Rompineve and A. Wulzer (check https://www.ifae.es/ for more information about the group).
The previous areas are complemented with a very active collaboration with the experimental colleagues at IFAE working on colliders, cosmology, gravitational waves, astroparticles and quantum technologies (check also https://www.ifae.es/ for more information about these groups).
Candidates should have a Master Degree in Physics or related topics, or satisfy the requirements to be admitted in the Physics PhD program of the UAB (https://www.uab.cat/en/phds/physics ) by the start of the grant (expected early 2025), provide an abridged CV, including full list of University Grades, and arrange for two letters of reference to be uploaded in to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/28659 no later than November 30th 2024. However, candidacies will be accepted until suitable candidates are identified. The selection will be based on the academic and scientific record of the candidate, the recommendation letters and the potential of the candidate to integrate well in the group.
The evaluation criteria and their weighting for the submitted applications will be the following:
- Scientific-technical contributions: 45 points
- Mobility and internationalization: 5 points
- Suitability of the candidate to the research activities to be carried out: 50 points
Offered contract
- Full-time Contract (40 h/week)
- Predoctoral Contract; 4 years
- The position will correspond to a PHD student.
- Salary will be proportional to experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range.
- Work with interesting experimental science. Opportunity to gain first-hand learning experience. Personal growth, innovation and learning every day.
- The selected candidate is expected to join the IFAE as soon as possible.
