About IFAE

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.

About Theoretical Physics Group

The theory group of IFAE (Barcelona, Spain) at the UAB Campus (Barcelona), invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in theoretical cosmology and topological defects. The appointments will be for full time. The position can start as early as November 2025 and will have a duration of eight months.

The candidates should have research expertise in Theoretical Physics, BSM physics, gravitational wave physics and topological defects. Proficiency with numerical simulation skills will be valued. The successful candidate will be part of the the Beyond the Standard Model and Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology groups of IFAE (https://www.ifae.es/groups/theory/) . The members of the group are D. Blas, E. Masso, A. Pomarol, O. Pujolas, M. Quiros, F. Rompineve, E. Salvioni and A. Wulzer.

What we are looking for

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Particle Physics starting in November 2025. Candidates should have a PhD degree in Physics.

The evaluation criteria and their weighting for the submitted applications will be the following:

  • CV and previous achievements, 40
  • Suitability of the candidate to the research activities, 45

Offered contract

  • Full-time Contract (40 h/week)
  • Contract Indefinido actividades científico técnicas
  • The position will correspond to a Postdoctoral position.
