About IFAE

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University.

About Theoretical Physics Group

The Theory Group at IFAE is a vibrant international group with active senior members working on BSM and Cosmology: D. Blas, A. Wulzer , E. Masso, A Pomarol, O. Pujolas, M. Quiros, F. Rompineve and E. Salvioni (check https://www.ifae.es/ for more information about the group). The previous areas are complemented with a very active collaboration with the experimental colleagues at IFAE working on colliders, cosmology, gravitational waves, astroparticles and quantum technologies (check also https://www.ifae.es/ for more information about these groups).

What will be your role?

The candidates should have a University degree in Physics a Master degree. Candidates are expected to carry independent research the strategic lines of the IFAE Theory Division’s BSM group, including physics beyond the Standard Model, formal aspects of quantum field theories and gravitation.

Required skills and evaluation criteria

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • Research experience in theoretical particle physics, quantum field theory and scattering amplitude methods.
  • Proficiency in the English language
  • Pro-active attitude and good communication skills

The evaluation criteria and their weighting for the submitted applications will be the following:

  • CV and previous achievements: 40
  • Suitability of the candidate to the research activities: 45
  • Interview: 15

Offered contract:

  • Full-time contract (40 hours/week).
  • Temporal contract.
  • The position will correspond to “Research Technician” within the professional categories of the IFAE.
  • Salary will be proportional to experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range.
