Description
Residual energy detector for proton CT and proton therapy, based on a novel range telescope architecture that allows tracking of several protons simultaneously. It enables more precise targeting of tumors while minimizing radiation to healthy tissues, and provides advanced multi-proton tracking capabilities that reduce overall patient exposure compared to conventional systems.
Innovation
The system is based on plastic scintillator bars that offer improved energy resolution through full-range with the possibility to improve the proton energy by also measuring the amount of deposited energy using suitable photo sensors. Unlike silicon-based detectors, the water-like density of plastic scintillators improves range accuracy and reduces uncertainties in Relative Stopping Power estimation, particularly for low-energy protons below 120 MeV.
