The article “The SuperFGD Prototype charged particle beam tests” published in JINST describes the SuperFGD prototype and summarizes the results of the analysis of the data taken in summer 2018 at the T9 testbeam at CERN.
Members of the IFAE group participated in the testbeam campaign and contributed significantly to the data analysis.
On a related note, the SuperFGD prototype is currently exposed to a neutron beam at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE).
The response of the SuperFGD to neutrons is highly interesting for anti-neutrino runs in the T2K-II phase.
From IFAE, Jordi Capo (Master student), Cesar Jesus and Thorsten Lux participate in the remote data taking shifts.

Milestone
Cavern Excavation Completed for Hyper-Kamiokande
September 1, 2025
The completion of the underground cavern for Hyper-Kamiokande in Japan marks a key research milestone in the construction of a next-generation neutrino observatory. The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) participates in the project through its Neutrino group, contributing to detector development and the scientific programme of this major international research infrastructure.
