ATLAS High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) milestone achieved: ALTIROC2 ASIC submitted

The ALTIROC2 ASIC for the ATLAS High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) has been submitted. This is a major milestone of the HGTD project.

The ALTIROC2 is a 2x2 cm2, full functionality ASIC to read out the LGAD sensors and provide the required 30-50ps time resolution per hit.R. Casanova led the digital design and the verification effort.

IFAE will be working on the development of a readout system for the chip tests and the hybridization effort (to LGAD sensors). The next version of the chip is planned for the end of the year.
