Theory DivisionDo direct detection experiments constrain axionlike particles coupled to electrons? by Ricardo Z. Ferreira and collaborators has been published at Physical Review Letters.
This work points out that the limits on axionlike particles (ALPs) coupled to electrons published by several laboratory experiments are significantly affected by radiative decays of ALPs into photons. Namely, constraints from x-ray and gamma-ray astronomy supersede current limits for ALP masses above 6 keV, and the ALP lifetime is smaller than the age of the universe in part of the parameter space probed by experiments.
