New member in the Cosmology Group

Santiago Avila has joined the Observational Cosmology group at IFAE as Postdoc researcher.

Santiago works on Large Scale Structure of the Universe (LSS), both using simulation and data from galaxy surveys. He has been involved in DES, eBOSS, Euclid, SKA and DESI. Currently, he is co-chair of the LSS group of the Dark Energy Survey.

He did his PhD at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, then moved to Portsmouth (UK) for a postdoc. He then went back to UAM with a MSCA fellowship

Outreach talk about the latest DESI results

Sindhu Satyavolu and Laura Casas delivered the seminar “Probing Cosmic Acceleration with DESI: Is Dark Energy Evolving?” at the Sala de Graus II (UAB), in a hybrid format. The speakers presented the latest results from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and introduced key cosmological concepts to ensure accessibility for a non-specialist audience.
