Monica Seglar participates in the kick-off of the 2024 edition of Bojos per la Ciencia

IFAE

Last Friday started “Bojos per la Ciència”, the educational program from Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera. IFAE coordinates the Bojos per la física together with ICN2 and in collaboration with ICFO, Alba, UAB, ICMAB…, engaging students in Physics activities. IFAE Postdoc researcher Monica Seglar from the Gamma-ray and the GW groups gave an inspiring talk for all students in the inauguration.

The program gathers 314 students from all over Catalonia, 30 of which will visit IFAE once a month for a whole year. In the program participate 16 other research centers from the BIST Community.

Cristobal Padilla assisted in representation of IFAE.

New facility

New Thermal Vacuum Chamber inaugurated at IFAE

A new Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) has been inaugurated at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) on the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The facility will enable satellites and space technologies to be tested under conditions representative of Earth’s orbit, expanding the capabilities available to the research and space technology communities. The TVAC is a joint project of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and IFAE, made possible through funding from the CERCA Ginys III programme, together with additional support from the Government of Catalonia, the IEEC and IFAE.

George Mahashe begins artist residency at IFAE

Artist and researcher George Mahashe has begun a two-month residency at IFAE within the Platform Dalí programme, exploring connections between scientific research, image-making and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.

Tsung-Dao Lee Institute delegation visits IFAE

IFAE welcomed a delegation from the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute to discuss the scientific activities of both institutions and explore possible future collaborations in areas of shared research interest.
