Euclid Releases 208-Gigapixel Mosaic

The release was done at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan

Euclid released a 208-gigapixel mosaic at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan . The mosaic, composed of 260 observations in visible and infrared light, captures 132 square degrees of the southern sky within just two weeks of data collection.

This image represents only 1% of Euclid’s planned six-year survey, which will map the 3D structure of the cosmos and explore the cosmic expansion.

IFAE, PIC & ICE, have been responsible for the design, construction, assembly and validation tests of the NISP instrument filter wheel, as well as the cosmological simulations of the mission.
