Medical Physics Group

Marino Maiorino will be part of the Medical Physics team, working on Retina, PET, and other detector projects.

Marino Maiorino, originally from Naples, was previously at IFAE from 2002 to 2012, earning his PhD in 2009 on solid-state detector characterization. He contributed to projects like Dear-Mama, DECam, and PAUcam before moving to industry in 2012. He worked on X-ray spectroscopy in the Netherlands and augmented reality glasses in Italy. In 2017, he joined an optical design company in Barcelona, leading the software team. Now back at IFAE, he will be part of the Medical Physics team, working on Retina, PET, and other detector projects.

Deep Detection , an IFAE spin-off company, presented its latest innovations in X-ray imaging at the Control Trade Show held from May 6 to 9 in Stuttgart, Germany. The event marked the introduction of the company’s PhotonAi® DS series of X-ray cameras, designed for advanced industrial inspection.

The PhotonAi® DS camera line features a modular design, allowing easy integration and customization to meet the specific needs of end users. These cameras are optimized for continuous in-line inspection, with high Ingress Protection (IP) ratings, low power consumption, and trigger synchronization support.
