The article “Superconducting penetration depth of Aluminum thin films” has been accepted for publication in the journal Superconductor Science and Technology.
David López, Alba Torras, Elia Bertoldo, Luca Cozzolino, Manel Martinez and Pol Forn are authors of this paper.
The paper analyses the superconducting properties of aluminium, used as the reference material for qubit fabrication. The study characterizes the magnetic penetration depth for films of different thicknesses and identifies the critical thickness at which aluminium changes from type-I to type-II superconductivity. This transition had not been experimentally verified before. The result, was originally obtained in the PhD thesis of David López (defended in April 2024).
