IFAE contributes to the Exhibition on Quantum Physics at the Faculty of Science of the UAB

The library is hosting the exhibition as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

The UAB Science and Technology Library is hosting the exhibition “Quantum Science and Technology. New Information Paradigms to Explore Nature” (22 September – 21 October 2025), as part of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

IFAE QCT group contribution to exhibition

It features the demo of the QCT lab refrigerator, together with a microscope displaying a real quantum chip. The model was built by the students in the QCT group together with Cristobal Pío, engineer in the IFAE technical Division.

VIP chip Also a VIP chip from the Applied Physics group is on display in the exhibition.

New facility

New Thermal Vacuum Chamber inaugurated at IFAE

A new Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) has been inaugurated at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) on the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The facility will enable satellites and space technologies to be tested under conditions representative of Earth’s orbit, expanding the capabilities available to the research and space technology communities. The TVAC is a joint project of the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and IFAE, made possible through funding from the CERCA Ginys III programme, together with additional support from the Government of Catalonia, the IEEC and IFAE.

George Mahashe begins artist residency at IFAE

Artist and researcher George Mahashe has begun a two-month residency at IFAE within the Platform Dalí programme, exploring connections between scientific research, image-making and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
