IFAE joins Platform Dalí, a new art–science initiative
December 3, 2025
IFAEThe Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is one of the research centres partnering in Platform Dalí, a new programme launched by the Fundació Gala–Salvador Dalí to foster collaboration between contemporary artists and leading scientific institutions.
Platform Dalí was officially presented yesterday at the Auditori de La Pedrera, bringing together representatives from the cultural sector and researchers from the participating centres. Developed under the artistic direction of Mónica Bello, who led the renowned Arts at CERN programme for the past decade, the initiative establishes collaborations with five major research institutions in Barcelona: BSC–CNS, ICFO, ICM–CSIC, PRBB, and IFAE.
IFAE’s contribution to the programme
As a centre dedicated to cutting-edge research in particle physics, cosmology, and quantum technologies, IFAE offers a unique context for artists interested in exploring concepts such as the structure of matter, the origins of the Universe, and the advanced technologies used to investigate them. Through Platform Dalí, IFAE will host artists-in-residence and contribute to the scientific mentoring that forms the backbone of the programme.
Researchers at IFAE will collaborate closely with the participating artists, offering access to laboratories, data, and expert knowledge. The goal is to spark new forms of dialogue and creation rooted in both scientific inquiry and artistic imagination, echoing Dalí’s visionary interest in the frontiers of science.
A long-term artistic and scientific collaboration
Starting in 2026, Platform Dalí will launch a series of residencies, workshops, and collaborative activities across the partner institutions. The programme will culminate in a major international exhibition in 2029, showcasing the artworks developed throughout the initiative and highlighting the creative potential of art–science exchanges.
