The paper “Covariant eigenmode overlap formalism for gravitational wave signals in electromagnetic cavities” by IFAE postdoctoral researcher Jordan Gué, together with collaborators from Hamburg, has been uploaded to arXiv.
The study presents a full covariant description of the interaction between gravitational waves and electromagnetic cavities, valid for arbitrary wave frequencies. It establishes a general eigenmode-overlap formalism that can be applied to a broad class of cavity-based detection setups.
This theoretical framework is particularly relevant in the context of GravNet, the ERC Synergy project dedicated to the search for high-frequency gravitational waves, and will also support other experimental efforts exploring novel detection strategies.
