IFAE and Escola Sant Martí de Cerdanyola launch Magnet alliance
February 19, 2026
IFAEThe Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) and the Escola Sant Martí de Cerdanyola have officially launched their Magnet alliance, within the ‘Magnet. Aliances per a l’èxit educatiu’ programme promoted by the Fundació Bofill. The presentation brought together representatives from the school community, the local council, the education administration and IFAE.
The partnership was presented yesterday in a public event, followed in the afternoon by the first working session with the school’s teaching staff. Through this alliance, IFAE, in collaboration with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), will work with teachers to bring fundamental science and scientific inquiry into the classroom, fostering critical thinking and hands-on experimentation adapted to primary education.
Over the coming months, the alliance will focus on joint work with the teaching staff, combining classroom practice with the scientific way of working — asking questions, testing ideas and interpreting evidence. Established as a four-year collaboration, the project aims to place students at the centre of the learning process while embedding new approaches to science education across the school. Through this alliance, IFAE also reinforces its commitment to sharing scientific culture beyond the research environment, in close collaboration with schools and public institutions.
The Magnet programme connects schools with leading scientific, cultural and social institutions to support long-term educational transformation and strengthen public education through sustained, high-quality collaboration.
