IFAE participates in an event on excellence in space research and business impact

Observational Cosmology GroupThe event was held at Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya, in Barcelona.
On 20 February 2026, the Government of Catalonia held the event “Jornada per posar en relleu l’excel·lència en la recerca i l’impacte empresarial en ciències de l’espai ” at the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya, in Barcelona.
The meeting brought together representatives from research centres, universities and industry to highlight Catalonia’s strengths in space science and its economic impact. Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) took part in the programme, with Cristóbal Padilla contributing to discussions on the role of research institutions in advancing space-related innovation and collaboration.
During the event, the Filter Wheel Assembly (FWA) of the NISP instrument aboard Euclid was showcased, underlining IFAE’s contribution to a major European space mission.

Carles Sánchez obtains a Consolidación Investigadora grant

Carles Sánchez, member of the Observational Cosmology Group at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies, has obtained a Consolidación Investigadora grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science through the UAB (Departament de Física, Unitat d’Altes Energies).

Andreu Font-Ribera appointed ICREA Professor at IFAE

Andreu Font-Ribera has been appointed ICREA Research Professor at the Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE), reinforcing the institute’s leadership. With this appointment, IFAE now hosts eight ICREA professors.
